A fixed table splits the budget

Every goal has a percentage per category. Pick two and they are averaged by how much each matters to you.

Every part is checked against the rest

Socket, memory type, card length, cooler height, board format and power draw. A part that fails is never picked.

The whole budget split, in the open

This is the actual table the engine reads. Every euro lands in one of these nine categories, and the percentage depends only on what the machine is for.

Money added for looks sits outside this table — it reaches the case, fans and board, never the processor or graphics card.

What is checked before a build is shown

Each of these runs on the finished build, and the answer is printed next to it with the real numbers, not as a tick.

Socket

The processor, the board and the cooler all name the same socket.

Memory

The type comes from the board, and the kit fits the slots it has.

Card length

The card fits the case, with a 10mm margin on mini-itx boards.

Storage

512GB for esports, 1TB for big games, 2TB for work.

Cooling

Air coolers fit under the roof, radiators fit the mounts the case lists.

Board format

The board is one of the sizes the case takes.

Power

Processor plus card plus 100W, plus a 200W buffer, then one wattage step higher so the supply is never run at its rating.

What the finished machine is worth

The same parts and the same prices, asked the other way round: not what should I buy, but what does this sell for once it is built. The gap between the two lines is the margin, and it is worked out from confirmed sales in bands rather than from an asking price somebody hoped for.

The marketplace cut and the postage come off before the profit is shown, because a profit quoted before fees is not a profit.

Questions

Where do the prices come from?

A person read the price and wrote down the date. Every part carries that date, and anything older than 28 days is flagged as old.

What if my budget is not enough?

The build says so and tells you the figure that would reach, worked out from the cheapest parts that still answer your questions.

Can I change an answer after seeing the build?

Yes. Go back, change what you like, and the machine is rebuilt with every check run again.

Why is there no chat box?

Because the answer would stop being repeatable. Fixed rules give the same machine for the same answers, every time.

What it does not do

  • It does not check bundle deals. The catalogue holds no bundle data.
  • It does not promise a price. Anything older than 28 days is flagged on the build for you to check.
  • It does not guess. Where a field is missing from the data, the build says so instead of filling it in.
